Because a good book can be too hard to find sometimes. Among the throngs of titles coming out each year, so many of which are breathlessly buzzed about and blurbed only to be more or less forgotten about all too soon post-publication, it can be hard to know what's worth your time and money. And with the media landscape being what it is, too few books are reviewed or talked about much at all. So, The Well-Tailored Rec is here to help. I'm here to help.

Frontlist-minded and backlist-focused, and unapologetically enthusiastic about what's boundary pushing, underrepresented, literary, queer, and weird, I want to startle, provoke, and excite you about books. I want to recommend what I think you'll connect with and enjoy of what I know of what's out there, and I want to help you challenge, expand, and define your taste at the same time—and I'm hoping to be challenged and expanded, too. For a sense of my taste as it currently stands, here’s a list I’m calling, in the interest of extending the sartorial metaphor, “Basics and Essentials: the Favorites.”

There's so much out there. Almost—but never, not really—too much. So let's weed-whack our way through the dense thicket of what's being published now and what's been published in the past, both, and I'll fold in enough commentary on what I've been reading lately and why to keep things flavorful. I might have guests drop in on occasion with commentary and recommendations of their own. I'm still figuring it out, to be honest. I'm always open to your feedback, suggestions, constructive criticisms, gripes. Whatever helps me help you find your way to the next book you need to read.
